About 1C

Thin Client

Thin client is a 1C:Enterprise application. Thin client operates in managed application mode only and does not support traditional user interface (the one used in versions 8.0 and 8.1). It uses significantly less resources than thick client.

Remote Online Operation over Internet

Thin client allows operation with 1C:Enterprise 8 interface over Internet. It uses a web server interacting with 1C:Enterprise 8.

Thin client interacts with the web server via HTTP; in its turn, the web server interacts with 1C: Enterprise 8 in file- or client-server operation mode. Apache or IIS can be used as the web server.

Operation over Internet

Client-server Operation Mode

Thin client can interact with a cluster server directly, using TCP/IP protocol.

File Operation Mode

When the thin client is operating in file mode, in the PC where the thin client is started a proprietary (specialized) environment is formed. Within the environment the following processes are executed:

  • Loading server components required for the system operation.
  • Loading an applied configuration.
  • Other actions required for normal functioning of the system with an information base.

At that, interaction between thin client and that proprietary environment is carried out with the same internet protocols that are used in case of client-server or web server participation. Thereby, from point of view of thin client the proprietary environment acts as a server. From point of view of operating system, the environment is not a separate process and it is executed in a thin client process.
